ECHBA June 2019 General Membership Meeting
Thank you to The Firelands Partnership for speaking and holding a focus group at our meeting last night. The Firelands Partnership recognizes the two key ingredients to successful economic development in every community are collaboration and vision. The successful recipe for that same economic success over neighboring counties is to create partnerships that allow for regional collaboration. The Firelands Partnership has embraced that concept and fostered a partnership between Erie, Huron, Sandusky and Ottawa counties to strengthen economic development by capitalizing on the comparative economic advantage of each county in the four county area. Over the past two years, the Firelands Partnership has hosted a number of Firelands Forums showcasing a variety of leaders and experts who related their first-hand experience on economic success through collaboration and the pitfalls to avoid along the journey. The Partnership has used the information gathered during these sessions to identify a number of shared priorities that will be addressed by a hybrid of strategies and public advocacy policy.
Firelands Forward is their workforce development project. Firelands Forward seeks to understand the labor market challenges and opportunities in Northcentral Ohio, connecting with local businesses, small and large, is of upmost importance.
